French-Algerian novelist, poet, journalist and mathematician Anouar Benmalek will visit MU on Sept. 19 to lead a lecture titled “From the birth announcement to the obituary: Writing as ticket for a strange journey.”
Benmalek has been called the Faulkner of the Mediterranean by the French press and is a founding member of the Algerian Committee Against Torture. His visit is co-sponsored by the Peace Studies Program, Department of Sociology and Afro-Romance Institute at MU. Benmalek will be available for a book signing both before and after the lecture.
